I am so excited for your upcoming engagement session! Engagement photos are often one of the first times people have professional photos taken, which can result in some nerves beforehand. Not to worry-I have put together this guide with some tips & FAQs to make you feel a little more at ease before your debut in front of the camera. I promise we are going to have a BLAST! :)

If you plan on wearing jeans, dark washed jeans tend to look better in photos! Stay away from shorts if possible and avoid shirts with logos. Always opt for loafers or dressier shoes over your everyday tennies!

Use this as an opportunity to get dolled up! It's not everyday that you and your fiancee have professional portraits taken, so take this chance to get your hair and makeup professionally done! BONUS TIP: If you've already booked your wedding hair/makeup vendor, you could have one of your trials done before your session! Plus, who doesn't feel confident after a trip to the salon? Having your fingernails nice and uniform is one less distraction for the photos. If you don't feel like painting your nails, just ensure they are clean of any old polish! You could also use this as an excuse to get a manicure-just make sure they are painted more of a neutral color and won't distract eyes away from that new bling on your finger!

TIPS FOR THE LADIES

03

Stick to simple patterns so things don't get too "busy." If one of you is wearing something patterned, the other should try to compliment them instead! For example: If your fiancee is wearing a checkered flannel shirt, you could wear a solid-colored shirt with a vest, scarf, or jacket that accents one of the colors in the flannel!

If you're still stuck on what to wear, please don't hesitate to reach out! Email me some of your choices and I will give you honest feedback on what I think will look best.

TIPS FOR THE GENTLEMEN

DITCH THE FLASHY/FLUORESCENT COLORS. Fluorescent colors like bright orange tend to distract the eye away from you, your fiancee, and your new bling! We want you to be the main focus!

NEUTRALS ARE BEST
Soft, neutral colors such as cream, blush, maroon, different shades of brown, navy, olive green etc. look fabulous on camera!

Yes, you are welcome to print the images on your own. Every session includes a print release that allows you to print photos from wherever you choose! If you do this, I recommend making sure the printer does not automatically color correct the images and making sure you are using a high-quality service.

For maximum quality, I LOVE offering prints to my clients through their online galleries. Photos will be delivered directly to your front door and I can guarantee beautiful results! IF you order Save The Dates, I would love if you sent one my way!! :)

Can I print the images on my own?

q:

The biggest tip I give couples beforehand is to relax and be themselves! I promise I won't pose you awkwardly/uncomfortably. In fact, I like to start with some fun prompts and let poses fall naturally into place!

A:

DO YOU HAVE ANY POSING TIPS?

q:

In the case of inclement weather, such as excessive heat/high winds/extreme overcast conditions/rain, sessions will be rescheduled to a new date within a reasonable timeframe. Please keep in mind that your best interest is at heart when having to reschedule due to unforseen weather conditions. Lighting is a large part of photography, and I want you to enjoy your engagement session to the max!

A:

WHAT IF IT RAINS?

q:

HECK YES! I would recommend having a helper come along to sit with your pet(s) when they aren't included in the photos.

While turnaround times can vary by season, I aim to deliver all images within 3 weeks of your session.

WHEN WILL WE RECEIVE OUR IMAGES?

q:

I  guarantee that your images will be online for three months. While your galleries may stay up longer than that, I recommend downloading all high resolution images to several devices, including an external hard drive for keepsake.
